Washburn District High School held its fall sports awards assembly on Dec. 17 in the Doc Albert Gymnasium. Boys’ soccer coach Ben Goodwin presented certificates to Kevin Jordan and manager Marienna Bragg. Receiving pins were Cameron Bragg, Keagan Page, Michael Ericson, Noah Farley, Noah Caron, Justin Davis, Carter Doak, Brandon Farley, Parker Thompson, Alex Pelletier, Tyler Jardine, Jarrett Olson and manager Owen James.
Earning letters were Benton Plante, Bryce Roix, Andrew Gumprecht, Cameron Hartford, Keenan Jordan, Caleb Thompson and McCall Turner. Receiving third-year letter plaques were Keagan Page, Cameron Bragg, Michael Ericson, Noah Farley and Alex Pelletier.
Bragg was named Most Valuable Player, Hartford was named Rookie of the Year and the Most Improved Player Award went to Davis. Thompson was named the Outstanding Defensive Player. Bragg and Caron received certificates for being named to the All-Aroostook team.
Boys’ and girls’ cross country coach Mike Waugh and assistant coach Sean Diette presented certificates to Jessica Aube, Mackenzie Vaughn, Kaitlyn Maynard and Kamryn Irving. Receiving pins were Carsyn Koch, Marianne Helton, Mariah Campbell, Carmen Bragg, Mackenzie Worcester, Emilia Churchill, Kristen Sarmiento, Hannah Heald, Brittany Hernandez and Mikayla Churchill for the girls’ team and Derek Baker, Michael Ericson, Cameron Preston, Kenny Irving, Cameron Hartford, Alex Pelletier, Parker Thompson and Brandon Cropley for the boys’ team.
Letters went to Sarmiento and Tori Koch. Receiving third-year letter plaques were Ericson, Worcester, Helton and Mikayla Churchill.
Presented certificates for being named All-Aroostook from the girls’ team were Bragg, Worcester, Tori Koch, Helton, Emilia Churchill and Carsyn Koch. Selected as All-Aroostook from the boys’ team were Baker, Ericson, Pelletier and Preston.
Most Valuable Runner for the girls’ was Carsyn Koch. She also received a momento for having won the individual cross country state championship four consecutive years. The girls’ Coaches’ Award went to Bragg. The Most Improved Runner Award went to Emilia Churchill.
Girls’ team members and coaches received plaques for being state runners-up. The girls accepted a disk and banner to be displayed on the gym wall.
Most Valuable Runner for the boys’ team was Baker, while the Coaches’ Award went to Cropley and the Most Improved Runner to Ericson.

Receiving pins were Carmen Bragg, Nicole Olson, Kennedy Churchill, Carsyn Koch, Mackenzie Worcester, Joan Overman, Caitlyn Roix, Catelyn Coulombe, Laina Mette, Emilia Churchill, Jessica Aube, Brooklyn Plummer, Taylor Howe, Mikayla Churchill, Tyra Shaw, Brittany Corey, Tori Koch, Stacy Landry, Kristen Sarmiento, Mariah Campbell and manager Natalie Doody.
Third-year plaques went to Carsyn Koch, Worcester, Overman, Mikayla Churchill, Coulombe and Shaw.
All-Aroostook certificates were awarded to Worcester, Bragg, Coulombe, Carsyn Koch and Overman. Names being placed on the All-Eastern Maine plaque were Worcester, Bragg, Carsyn Koch and Coulombe. Worcester received an award for high achievement as she surpassed 100 career goals and set the school’s single-season scoring record. She was named all-state and girls’ Class D Player of the Year by the Maine Soccer Coaches.
Coulombe was named the Most Valuable Defensive Player. Worcester was named the Most Valuable Offensive Player. Bragg was named the most valuable all-around player. Kennedy Churchill was named the Coaches’ Award recipient. Team members received state championship plaques and T-shirts and will be receiving jackets. The team accepted their state championship gold disc and banners for the gym wall.
Worcester and Cameron Bragg were presented the Butch Shaw Awards as the outstanding male and female Class D soccer players in Aroostook County.
Athletic Director Ron Ericson presented Varsity Club jackets to Overman, Worcester, Mikayla Churchill and Kennedy Churchill.
