     PRESQUE ISLE – Rev. Cynthia M. Carmichael, 88, passed away peacefully at the Presque Isle Nursing Home on January 10, 2014, with her family by her side. She was born January 21, 1925, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Herbert “Harry” and Mapley (Wood) Carmichael.
    Cynthia graduated from Presque Isle High School in 1943. She worked at W.T. Grant in Presque Isle for several years with her lifelong best friends, Nellie Knox and Ella Grendell. She graduated from Zion Bible Institute in 1952. She was a long time faculty member of the Faith School of Theology in Charleston where she served as a Teacher, Class Advisor, and Director of Outside Ministry. She also worked at many local businesses in Presque Isle including H.O. Perry Insurance, Rathbun Lumber, Ames, Zayre and Aroostook Testing.
    She was an ordained minister with the Full Gospel Ministerial and Church Fellowhip as well as the North American Ministerial Association. She was the leader of “Joy Fellowship” ladies group in Monticello for many years and enjoyed the friendships of all its members. In her spare time, she loved to study, sew, craft and try out new recipes.
    In 1985, she moved into an apartment in her niece, Marilyn and Rick Nadeau’s home. She shared many happy family times with them and their daughters, Lindsay and Amanda, as well as her sister, Glenda Clark and husband, Vaughn. She had a stroke in 2007, and spent the last seven years at the Presque Isle Nursing Home where she spent many evenings playing Skip-Bo with Marilyn and Rick.
    She is survived by one brother, Herbert “ Loren” Carmichael and his wife, Shirley of Jefferson, ME; and one brother-in-law, Vaughn Clark of Presque Isle. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
    In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Elvin Carmicheal, Glenda Clark, Authora Kinney and Verla Lindsey.
    The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Jones and the staff of the Presque Isle Nursing Home for their kindness and care of Cynthia.
    Friends and family may call from 1-2 p.m., on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home in Presque Isle where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Bruce Blakney officiating. A reception will follow services at the funeral home. Interment will be held in the spring at Johnson Cemetery.
