PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A generous pledge from Ray and Sandy Gauvin, of Mapleton, will support faculty development at Northern Maine Community College. The purpose of the fund will be to create new curricula or services to meet changing educational needs.
“It’s important for faculty to update their course offerings constantly, but with resources that are often limited, it’s an ongoing challenge,” said Ray. “Sandy and I decided to support teachers in this way because when they advance, students advance.”
“Ray and Sandy have been extremely generous to the college over the years and we are so grateful that they continually find meaningful ways to contribute to the excellent education offered here at Northern Maine Community College,” said Timothy Crowley, college president.
The amount of the donation is not being disclosed. The fund, named the Ray and Sandy Gauvin Faculty Advancement Fund, is being created as an endowment capable of receiving additional contributions from other people or organizations.
