Poor road conditions blamed for accident

ROBINSON — A Mars Hill woman escaped injury when she lost control of her car as she traveled along the Robinson Road on Dec. 13.

“At about 4:30 p.m. Friday, sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a traffic crash on the Robinson Road in Robinson. Dorothy Durgin, 73, of Mars Hill, had crested a hill in a location where the road makes a sweeping left turn and lost control on the slippery surface of the road,” said Chief Deputy Sheriff Darrell Crandall, of the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office.
Durgin’s vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane, rolled over and came to rest in the ditch.
“Luckily, Ms. Durgin was not injured, but her 2010 Chrysler Sebring is believed to be a total loss,” said Crandall.
Deputy Sheriffs Vance Palmer, Michael Montpetit and Ryan Doughty were on the scene to investigate the crash.
“As winter starts to bring badweather that impacts road conditions, we encourage everyone to slow down and allow themselves more time to arrive at their destinations,” said Crandall.
