The Presque Isle Wildcats improved to 2-1 on the season by winning their home opener last Wednesday over the Houlton-Hodgdon Blackhawks.

PI scored a convincing 4-1 victory by outshooting the guests by a 25-10 margin over the first two periods and 33-18 in the game.
Presque Isle scored early as Alex Michaud converted off assists by Tyler Seeley and Trevor Levesque 2:24 into the opening period.
The Wildcats then made it 3-0 with goals 2:44 apart in the second. Michaud found the back of the net at the 7:13 mark, with Seeley and Cooper Madore coming up with the assists. At 9:57, Seeley tallied off assists from Joseph Patenaude and Levesque to give PI the comfortable lead.
After the combination of Josh Malone and Brandon Malone finally put Houlton-Hodgdon on the scoreboard 8:47 into the final period, PI’s Mikey Michaud scored off an assist from Seeley to wrap up the scoring.
“Seeley dominated as he has each game this year,” noted coach Carl Flynn, who added that the senior forward is now just five points away from 100 for his career.
“I thought we controlled the play from start to finish, but their goalie, Chase Brewer, played very well.”
Presque Isle’s Oliver Gerrish, in his first start, handled the goalie chores for the winners.
The Wildcats have a busy weekend with a home game against John Bapst Friday before taking to the road the next day for a 5 p.m. game against Waterville to be played at Colby College.
Flynn said both opponents will be formidable. Bapst is a familiar foe, while Waterville is new as they make the movedown from Class A.
