MAPLETON, Maine – A local man succumbed to injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash over the weekend. “Bryan Cyr, 53, of Mapleton, was operating his 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle along the Hughes Road at approximately 12:30 p.m. on September 8 when the accident occurred, said Sgt. David McPherson, of the Maine State Police.
Cyr was attempting to round a curve when he reportedly lost control of his machine.
“He failed to negotiate a sharp turn, drove off the roadway, flipping his motorcycle on top of himself,” said McPherson.
Cyr was pinned under the bike until nearby neighbors pulled the bike off of him. Neighbors were also said to be the ones who notified the authorities of the incident.
Cyr was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center by Crown Ambulance and later flown to the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor due to complications.
“Cyr passed away on Sunday morning as the result of his injuries,” said McPherson.
Cyr was riding alone at the time of the accident. Police did not indicate if Cyr was wearing a helmet.
Trooper Todd Stetson, of the Maine State Police, served as primary investigator.
