PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Momentum Aroostook is ringing in the holiday season with a very special family-friendly event – All Aboard the Polar Express! – which takes place on Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14 from 5-8 p.m. with rides boarding at the University of Maine at Presque Isle’s Gentile Hill.
With the purchase of a $7 golden ticket, each passenger will get a holiday ride on the Presque Isle Historical Society’s Molly the Trolley, a visit to “the North Pole” complete with hot cocoa, cookies and time with Santa at the Wintergreen Arts Center, and a jingle bell to take home. These rides are intended for children ages 10 and under; all children must be accompanied by an adult.
“We’re very excited to be providing a fun holiday event like this for local families that is no doubt going to create some wonderful memories,” Kari Wells-Puckett, Momentum Aroostook Steering Committee chair, said. “These types of holiday rides are done in other parts of the state and country and our group felt it was important to bring this family-friendly holiday opportunity close to home. We’re pleased to be partnering with UMPI, Wintergreen, and the historical society to put together this really special night.”
Participants should plan for a 30 to 40-minute round-trip ride and are invited to wait inside Gentile Hall, where they can play in the gym or just keep warm. Ride schedules will be posted at a Momentum-hosted information table in the lobby. After they board Molly the Trolley, which will be all decked out in lights and decorations for the holidays, participants will enjoy a short ride through town to look at the holiday light displays and be entertained by the conductor of the Polar Express. When they arrive at the Wintergreen Arts Center, they will be greeted by elves, decorate a holiday cookie with arts center staff, have a chance to enjoy cookies and hot cocoa, and talk to Santa Claus. On the return trip, participants will receive their very own jingle bell to remind them of their magical evening.
This is an evening not to be missed. Momentum Aroostook and Wintergreen Arts Center will post on their website and Facebook pages as soon as the event sells out. Time of departure can be selected when purchasing tickets and tickets must be paid in full when picking up. For more information, look for the Momentum Aroostook Facebook page.
