On Thursday, Dec. 12, the Easton School Department will be offering a Christmas meal for Easton resident senior citizens starting at 12:30 p.m. in the elementary school cafeteria.

The meal will include turkey, stuffing, gravy, baked potatoes, mashed potato, squash, peas and rolls.

Note of sympathy

Sympathy goes out to the family of Peter White. He was 83 years young and enjoyed a happy, healthy life until his passing on Nov. 26, surrounded by his family. Pete was a long-time member of the Easton Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief in the 1970s. He cherished his time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The coffee pot was always on and the door was always open to friends and family. He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, worked for Vahlsing Inc. for the major part of his working career, was the project engineer for Maine Sugar, owned and operated a garage/service center at Easton Center and retired from work as a boiler engineer for the state of Maine
Peter was born Oct. 10, 1930 in Easton, son of Theodore and Francis (Stickney) White. In addition to his wife Ann of Easton, he is survived by five sons, Kim, Loren, Darrell, Randy and Greg and spouses, a sister Pat Fitzherbert of Bowling Green, Ky., 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and many special nieces, nephews and cousins. Peter will be missed dearly by his entire extended family and close friends. It was Pete’s wish to have no funeral service. For those who wish, you may make a memorial contribution in Pete’s memory to either the Stephen “Manny” White scholarship at Easton High School, P.O. Box 126, Easton, ME 04740 or Mars Hill Country Club, PO Box 338, Mars Hill, ME 04758. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com.

All-Star Soccer Team members named

Kylee Carter, Cody Halvorson and Hunter Turner were nominated by the coaches around the state to the Eastern Maine Class D All-Star Team. They were given a plaque and certificate at a banquet in Bangor this past Sunday. Hunter Turners also participated in the Senior Bowl on the “East Team” in Hampden the past month.
