    MCMANUS, Bernard Dennis, 66, PRESQUE ISLE, November 30, 2013. Funeral service will be conducted Wed., Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. at the United Pentecostal Church, Fort Fairfield. Arrangements are in the care of Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, Fort Fairfield.

        PRESQUE ISLE – Bernard Dennis McManus, 66, husband of Connie (Donovan) McManus, passed away Saturday morning, November 30, 2013, at his Presque Isle home, following an extended period of declining health. Bernard was born August 8, 1947 at 9:40 a.m. at the old Presque Isle Hospital, now City Hall, the son of Kempton B. and Clara C. (Barnes) McManus.American Flag Color
    Although he passed just a couple of miles from his birthplace, Bernard was known from the Atlantic to the Pacific for his honestly, good nature, skill in building or repairing most anything, and his selfless generosity. He was always there with a kind word and helping hand for friend or stranger alike. He had an insatiable curiosity and an eager willingness to teach and learn. Bernard was a credit to his family and set a high, enduring standard. The world is a better place for his efforts, and it will receive the benefits for a long time to come. We offer our most sincere congratulations for a life well lived!
    Bernard was a graduate of the Presque Isle High School Class of 1965 and served with the Maine National Guard from 1965 to 1971. He later received an associate’s degree in sheet metal and welding from the Northern Maine Community College, Presque Isle, and later served as a teacher’s assistant in that program. He owned and operated Urethane Enterprises, serving the Aroostook County area from 1976 to 1983. He and his family lived in Cottage Grove, OR for twelve years where he worked as a cabinetmaker, returning to Presque Isle in 1997. He preached the Word of the Lord at Adult Sunday School at the Bethel International Church, Fielding, New Brunswick. He also preached in Brookville, New Brunswick and the Fort Fairfield United Pentecostal Church, where he was a member since 1997.
    He was predeceased by his mother, Clara McManus. He is survived by his beloved wife, Connie of Presque Isle, who lovingly and faithfully shared good times and bad to the very end; his father, Kempton B. McManus of Mars Hill; his children and spouses, L. Scott and Paula McManus of Cottage Grove, OR, Marshall A. and Kori McManus of Washburn, Wayne D. and Shilo McManus of Kenai, Alaska, Alan D. and Denise McManus of Hoyt, New Brunswick, Andrea D. and Joshua Alley, Rosalie A. and Daniel Taggett, all of Presque Isle; fifteen grandchildren, Justin J. and Gabriel A. McManus, both of Cottage, Or, Brooklyn Tupper and Ryker McManus, both of Washburn, Connor and Lachlan McManus, both of Kenai, Alaska, Austin, Caleb, Nathan and Isaac McManus, all of Hoyt, New Brunswick, Christina, Katelyn and Angela Alley, Emilee and Jonathan Taggett, all of Presque Isle. He will also be dearly remembered by very special friends, Rev. Howard and Sharon Antworth of Jacksonville, New Brunswick, and the Rev. Mark and Mary Carter of Blaine.
    Friends called Tuesday, December 3, 2013, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the United Pentecostal Church, 33 Currier Road, Fort Fairfield. The funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at 1 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Ron Doughty officiating. A time of continued fellowship will be held after the service at the church reception area. Spring interment will take place at the family cemetery, Westfield.
