DICKER, Christine, 92, PRESQUE ISLE, November 28, 2013. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Christine Dicker, age 92, died peacefully on November 28, 2013, surrounded by the loving care of the staff at Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center. She was born on March 14, 1921, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Fred and Clara (Ireland) Hughes.
Her primary role was of a wife, mother and grandmother, and in addition she was employed as a cook for MSAD 1 for 20 years. She greatly enjoyed the opportunity to work at Moose Point Camps as their cook for two seasons. She was a member of the Pythian Sisters, and for many years she was a faithful member of the Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher and singing in the choir.
Through the years Christine enjoyed knitting, playing cards, camping with her family, exploring the country roads of Aroostook with Alden, and rooting for the Red Sox and the Patriots.
Christine is survived by her children, Alden Dicker, Jr. and his wife Georgia, daughter-in-law Marlene Dicker, Rebecca Dicker Woodman and her husband Phil, Christy Dicker and her partner Peter St. Peter, and Roger Dicker and his wife Anne. She was the loving grandmother to Jennifer Trombley and Julie Dicker, Stace Hendricks and Heather Bushey, Matthew and Seth Wieder, Stephanie Gouker and Brad St. Peter, and Rachel Dicker and Deidre Braley. She is also survived by nine great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by Alden, her loving husband of 67 years, her son Larry, her infant daughter Sandra, her brother, Wendell Hughes, her sister Thelma Walton, and a special cousin, Clarice McEntee.
Friends and family called 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday, December 2, at the Mapleton United Baptist Church where a celebration of her life was held at 12 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Phelps officiating. A reception followed the service. Interment will be held at Southside Cemetery in Mapleton.
