The imminent death of society

To the editor:
I am greatly concerned about the dynamics of American economics and society. I see trends in the growing numbers of desperate citizens without the bare necessities and near zero chance of improving their situation. I see growing numbers of working people who make an unlivable wage.   We have a dysfunctional government because of an imbalance in political power; the imbalance of political power caused by income inequality and the literal purchase of the government.
America has nurtured the stock market and trampled the labor market for over 30 years now. I feel that trampling the labor market has been the root cause of most of our debt, entitlement, wealth distribution and economic dilemmas.
It is urgent that we make social, economic, and policy changes that correct and reverse this suicidal down-spiral. We are ignoring the imminent death of our society while watching the stock market hit record highs.
