ISLAND FALLS, Maine — The Island Falls Lakes Association will sponsor its 17th annual Around-the-Pond Canoe/Kayak Races on Sunday, Aug. 1, at Birch Point Campground on Pleasant Lake in Island Falls.
This is a family fun event, and participants need not be experts to enter or win. There are categories for all ages and ability levels.
Registration will take place at Birch Point from 9 to 9:45 that morning and is $15 per person. Entry fees support the Southern Aroostook Community School “Dollars for Scholars” program.
Board members are asked to bring a dessert to share.
There will be ribbons and awards for all winners and a free T-shirt to all registered paddlers.
