PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — A single-vehicle accident early Nov. 19 near Northern Maine Community College resulted in minor injuries to one person.    “On Nov. 19 at approximately 2:47 a.m., the Presque Isle Police Department, along with the Presque Isle Fire Department and Crown Ambulance, responded to a motor vehicle accident on Central Drive, with report of injury,” said Deputy Chief Laurie Kelly, of the PIPD.
According to Kelly, the vehicle was traveling southbound when the driver attempted to reach something in the vehicle, lost control and ended up in the ditch.
“Rebecca Maxwell, 18, of Presque Isle, was driving her 2005 Toyota Corolla southbound on Central Drive when she lost control of the vehicle while searching her seat for a cell phone charger. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. Both front airbags deployed,” said Kelly.
Kelly said both Maxwell and her front seat passenger, 19-year-old Dylan Begin, of Presque Isle, were wearing their seatbelts and refused any medical treatment. Another passenger sustained minor injuries.
“The rear passenger, 18-year-old Dillon Rappleyea, was not wearing his seatbelt, causing him to sustain minor facial injury as his head was slammed into the back of the front passenger headrest. Rappleyea was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center by Crown Ambulance,” said Kelly.
Officer Kevin Reed investigated the crash. There are no pending charges.
