PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — As a way to celebrate music and raise funds for music education in the SAD 1 school system, the Presque Isle Music Boosters will host the Adam Ezra Group Sunday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. in the Presque Isle Middle School auditorium.    New England rockers, the Adam Ezra Group released their debut album “Ragtop Angel” in 2011. Upon its release, the album shot to the top of the Amazon charts and was featured on iTunes “New and Noteworthy Rock Albums” in December of 2011. Soon after, “Ragtop Angel” won “Album of the Year” and “Takin’ Off” won “Song of the Year” at the New England Music Awards.
Their new album, “Daniel The Brave” features acoustic music recorded after the group locked themselves in a cabin in the Catskills, set up instruments and hit the record button.
“The Adam Ezra Group is making waves all over New England and for good reason,” said local radio personality Chris O’Brien. “They rock. With gritty poetry set to an eclectic rock and roll backdrop, the Adam Ezra Group fits on the radio next to Mumford & Sons and The Dave Matthews Band. It’s great storytelling, great music and a great ride for the audience.”
Tickets, which are $10, will be available for purchase at KMH Music Store, LiveWell United, Goin’ Postal and Bradley’s Citgo. Tickets can also be purchased online at: https://aeg-sad1.eventbrite.com. The concert is being sponsored by Taco Bell and Townsquare Media. Funds raised will support music education.
On Monday, Oct. 28, the group will do a workshop with the high school band and chorus during periods 1 and 2. In the afternoon, students from the middle school GT music program will get their opportunity.
“The Music Boosters organization is committed to supporting a quality music program in our schools,” said Athena Hallowell, Boosters president. “It is not only culturally enriching, but there is evidence of the connection between music and learning.”
According to a recent report by the President’s Committee on Arts and the Humanities (PCAH), research supports positive educational outcomes associated with arts-rich schools. These outcomes include increased academic achievement, school engagement and creative thinking. Most recently, cutting edge studies in neuroscience have been further developing an understanding of how arts strategies support crucial brain development.
