University of Maine at Presque Isle senior Kayla Legassie has been named the United States Collegiate Athletic Association women’s cross country runner of the week for the period ending Sept. 29.
Legassie, who is a graduate of Presque Isle High School, finished the Bowdoin College 6K Invitational in a time of 24 minutes and 55 seconds. It was her first race at the 6K distance this season. The 2012 USCAA All-American ran a 6:17 first mile and averaged a 6:40 mile pace for the race.
The USCAA is a national organization that exists to provide quality athletic competition on a regional and national level.
