Probus Club updated on NMCC project
PRESQUE ISLE — The Probus Club of central Aroostook County met Sept. 19 at Northern Maine Community College’s Reed Commons, with 17 members present.
The special speaker was Sue Bernard, dean of development and college relations at NMCC. She was introduced by program chairman Carolyn Watson.
Bernard is well known in the area, attending local schools and being employed by WAGM and the Diocese in Portland before accepting her current position.
She gave club members information on the wellness center currently being constructed. She and Robert Smith showed slides to explain the work being done, noting that the size of the new building will be 10,000 square feet, the airport museum will be housed at the new facility and that the target date for completion is April 2014.
Tours of the new building were offered to club members following the meeting.
The Probus Club meets on the third Thursday of each month at Reed Commons beginning at 10 a.m.
