PI golfers now 5-0
The championship portion of the Wildcat golf team’s schedule begins next week.
Presque Isle is a perfect 5-0 heading into its regular season finale at Houlton Thursday, which is a make-up match from last week. Then on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the team plays a match at JaTo Highlands in Lincoln against Caribou, Old Town and John Bapst.
Two days later, the Penobscot Valley Conference championships are scheduled, again at the Lincoln course.
The Wildcats hosted Caribou Friday and won by 11 strokes, 180-191. Michael Boone was the medalist with a 41. Josh Gordon shot a 45, Hunter Flynn and Karson Eaton had 47s and Liam Hughes and Jenna Hallett 48s.
Dayne Savage carded a 44 to lead the Vikings.
At Fort Kent Monday, PI picked up a 38-stroke victory behind Boone’s 41, which gave him medalist honors for all five of his team’s matches to date.
Also for the Wildcats, Hallett had a 42, Hunter Flynn a 45, Gordon a 48 and Hughes a 48.
