BUSINESS FOCUS
Come visit the Governor’s ‘family’
PRESQUE ISLE — Governor’s Restaurant & Bakery opened in January, 1997. Who opens a business in the middle of an Aroostook County winter? Well, Tony and Sherry Sullivan do! Who’s afraid of a little snow in Aroostook County? No one! There was a line out the door and down the handicapped ramp and the snow was falling! Sixteen years later, many of those same loyal customers still come out in any kind of weather to not only get a great meal, but to visit our friendly staff that has become family in many ways.
Governor’s Restaurant & Bakery attributes much of its success over the years to its friendly staff … past, present and future. We have seen many come and go in 16 years for various reasons. Like proud parents, we have seen many young kids work their way through high school and then college and go on to jobs in their field of study. We have past employees that are now school teachers, social workers, nurses, one that works for the National Security Agency, an officer in the United States Air Force, one that is currently pursuing her CPA and we even have a past employee that has moved to Hollywood to pursue an acting career.
We also have many familiar faces that have made their career at Governor’s. These folks are definitely the foundation on which we build our business. “Bea” has been serving folks in the Star City since her days at the Roma Café and she is still going strong at the ripe ole age of 39. And if you’re a morning person, you no doubt have shared a cup of coffee with Rose over the years. Although we miss those who have moved on, we are always excited to see the next generation work to achieve goals personally and professionally and feel honored by our loyal “career” staff.
Tony and Sherry hope that folks in Aroostook County have enjoyed dining at Governor’s as much as they have enjoyed serving them over the past 16 years. They are looking forward to many more years, so please keep coming.
There’s a menu for everyone — a senior citizen menu, a children’s menu, special features, daily specials, seafood, burgers, pasta, specialty salads, sandwiches and soups, just to name a few, all served with homemade bread or rolls. And remember, you can always “Eat Dessert First” if you need more time to make up your mind.
So next time you are passing through downtown Presque Isle, stop in and dine with “our family.”
