Dorsey speaks at PROBUS club

    The Probus Club of Central Aroostook met on Thursday, Aug. 15, at Northern Maine Community College, Reed Commons, with 16 members present. The new slate of officers are as follows: President Hilda Walton; Vice President Mellen Fitzherbert; Secretary Valerie Lunn; Treasurer E. Gerald Gallagher; and Program Chairman Carolyn Watson.

    Carolyn Watson introduced the special guest, Robert (Bob) Dorsey, from Aroostook Partnership for Progress. He presented informational material including future jobs in the area. There is a need to increase awareness of County jobs, increase awareness of our workforce challenge, call to action for education and employers, job shadowing-internship opportunities and increase retention of our County students. The workforce of those between 18 and 44 years old needs to increase.
    Valerie Lunn gave a life history and Pearl Carmichael gave a reading.
    The Probus Club meets on the third Thursday of each month at NMCC, Reed Commons at 10 a.m.
