Huber becomes ‘Friend of Bigrock’

MARS HILL — Last Friday, officials with Huber Engineered Woods, LLC of Easton informed the Friends of Bigrock their intention of donating $5,000 to be used as a challenge donation fund.

The Huber commitment will match, dollar for dollar, any donation made beginning Aug. 18, up to $5,000. Donations can be made at the Bigrock fund-raising website by visiting, www.gofundme.com/save-BigrockMountain.
“Helping to keep the Bigrock ski area open is not only vital to the area, but we view it as an integral part of our employee wellness program,” said Tammie Fletcher, office manager at Huber Engineered Woods.
Huber has always been a strong supporter of Bigrock Mountain.
“Huber has donated supplies, sponsored a corporate free ski night, and this is just another example of their generosity and commitment to the area,” said Bill Getman, general manager of Bigrock. “Our fundraising has really started to get traction, and we think this will be one of many exciting announcements that will be made as we move toward reopening Bigrock.”
The Friends of Bigrock was created shortly after Maine Winter Sports Center made its announcement that they would close Bigrock Aug. 6.
Their goal is to assist with raising a minimum of $150,000 that will be needed to open the mountain this winter. The Friends of Bigrock has raised over $16,000 to date.
