NMCC to roast the Honorable John Martin
PRESQUE ISLE — Northern Maine Community College is planning to hold a unique scholarship fundraiser that promises to be high profile, a lot of fun and — most importantly — helpful to students in need for years to come. A dinner roast of the Honorable John Martin of Eagle Lake will be held Saturday, Aug. 24 at the Crow’s Nest Event Center in Presque Isle.
The John Martin Roast will bring together people from throughout the area and both sides of the political aisle for a festive evening to toast and roast John Martin in recognition of his many years of service in the legislature and for his work on behalf of northern Maine, particularly in education.
The evening will feature Congressman Mike Michaud, Maine humorist Gary Crocker and Aroostook County Commissioner Norm Fournier. Martin will be the final speaker, taking the opportunity to defend himself and likely taking a crack at the “roasters” and perhaps some dinner attendees.
All proceeds from the event will benefit student scholarships and programs at NMCC. Tickets are $40 each, $75 for two or $285 for a table of eight.
The social hour will be at 5:30 p.m., with dinner and the roast to follow at 6:30 p.m. The NMCC Foundation is hosting this event with the goal of making higher education possible for more people who desire it.
For more information, call the NMCC Development Office at 768-2808 no later than Aug. 16.
