Washburn-area youth take field trip

On Friday, July 12, the Washburn Recreation Department took two vans full of children for a day trip to Portage Lake and Jellystone Park in Woodstock, Canada.
The weather was wonderful and the kids all had a great time, returning home happy, tired and wet.

Historical Society
The Salmon Brook Historical Society in Washburn is having a quilt show and tea at the museum on Sunday, Aug. 4.
Only 50 tickets are available for pre-sale at the cost of $10. Settings are for 1 and 2:30 p.m. For tickets call Louise Cole at 455-4723, Rita Kingsbury at 429-9359 or Wanita Hallowell at (863) 398-0311. Proceeds will go toward the expenses of the museum.
Soccer season
The 2013 soccer season will begin Aug. 5. The schedule of Washburn High School and Elementary School games is now available at the Washburn District School website at MSAD45.net under the “athletics” tab at the top.
Upcoming ATV events
Thursday, Aug. 1, there will be a potluck barbecue/meeting at the ATV clubhouse on Gould Street. The club supplies hotdogs and burgers and asks that you bring a side dish. Potluck starts at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 6:30. The main agenda will be to plan for the Washburn August Festival (parade and food booth), club rides and a September donation hotdog roast.
On Saturday, Aug. 3, there will be a club barbecue at Joyce’s camp seven miles up on the Gardner Creek Road. Party starts at 5 p.m. and the club will be supplying the grill items and asks that you please bring a side dish or a dessert. Campfire to follow and please bring a chair if you have one. Rain date will be Aug. 10.

Those celebrating a birthday between July 31 and Aug. 6 include: Vernon Easler, Marcie Barbarula, Beverly White, Ryan Plissey, Debra Corey, Adam Thompson, Perlin Bull, Amanda Clark, Matt Cannon, Mark Kelley, Natalie Doody, Lesha Fitzherbert, Kevin Burtt, Virginia Farley and Barb Churchill.
Those celebrating an anniversary between July 31 and Aug. 6 include: Gary and Karen Milton, Chuck and Carol Mahoney, Dana and Barb Caron, Lyman and Velma Sperrey, and Gary and Louise Cole.
