PRESQUE ISLE – Jean Burlock Porter, 85, wife of the late Roger C. Porter, passed away peacefully at TAMC on Thursday, July 4, 2013, with her daughters by her side. She was born in Presque Isle on June 24, 1928, the daughter of the late Watson E. Burlock and Mary (Munn) Burlock.
She graduated from Aroostook Central Institute in Mars Hill. Jean was a devoted member of the Mapleton United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a former member of the Maine Town and City Clerk’s Association, the State Road Extension, and the Castle Hill Grange. She was employed by the City of Presque Isle as City Clerk and retired in 1993.
Jean was a cherished and devoted daughter, sister, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy Porter Graves and son-in-law, Ronald Graves of Davenport, FL, and Squa Pan Lake, ME, and Judy Porter Perkins and son-in-law, Carl Perkins of Presque Isle; a brother, Walter E. Burlock and his wife, Sara of Harpswell, ME; two granddaughters, Danna Libby Bouchard and her husband, Rickey Bouchard of New Sweden, ME, Danelle Libby Weston and her husband, Aaron Weston of Newburgh, ME; two grandsons, Devon Libby and his partner, Bo Peretto of Denver, CO, and Brock D. Griffin of Presque Isle; nieces, Alice Porter Chandler, Bonnie Gammon, Tracy Burlock, and Kelly Palaima; and nephew, Buzz Burlock; great-grandchildren, Alex, Riley and Dylan Bouchard, and Jacob and Patrick Weston; a cousin, Clarice Roxborough; life-long friends, Norma Tweedie, Maxine Smith, Dawn Kenney and Alma Libby; and caring neighbor, Dot Gustin.
Jean was predeceased by her husband of 56 years on November 14, 2002; her daughter, Jill Pauline Porter in 1965; her sister-in-law, Ethel Johnson in 2003; her sister, Pauline Burlock Dodson in 2005; and her nephew, Vaughn Porter in 2010.
The family wishes to thank Victoria Grover, Jean’s health care provider for over 30 years and the doctors and nurses at TAMC Critical Care Unit who provided the utmost care and support.
