WESTFIELD — A local man suffered serious injuries over the weekend when he lost control of his motorized scooter and crashed on the Miller Road.

“On Saturday, June 22 at approximately 6:22 p.m., the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a report of a person laying in the ditch on the Miller Road in Westfield. When deputies arrived, they found 69-year-old Basil B. Bragdon, of Westfield, laying in the ditch,” said Sgt. Forrest Dudley, of the ACSO.
Dudley said it appeared that Bragdon was operating a motorized scooter west on the Miller Road and he lost control of the scooter, left the roadway and ended up in the ditch.
“Mr. Bragdon suffered severe head trauma during the incident. Mr. Bragdon was transported to The Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle by Crown Ambulance, then later flown to a Bangor hospital by Aroostook Critical Care Transport,” said Dudley.
Dudley said Bragdon was listed in critical condition at Eastern Maine Medical Center as of Wednesday night. No additional information on Bragdon’s condition was available at presstime.
The accident is being investigated by Deputy Vance Palmer of the ACSO. Palmer was assisted at the scene by Deputy Mitchell Wheeler and members of the Mars Hill Fire Department.
    The accident remains under investigation.
