Four local businesses have teamed up for the second consecutive year to benefit the Sister Mary O’Donell Homeless Shelter in Presque Isle. Movie Gallery locations in Presque Isle and Caribou have teamed with Pizza Hut locations in Presque Isle and Caribou to raise supplies and funds for the shelter through a food drive and bake sale.    The event is scheduled to run from Friday, Aug. 31 through Sunday, Sept. 2. Customers may drop off donations of non-perishable food items to any of the four locations. With a donation of three non-perishable food items, the Pizza-Hut locations will offer a free personal pan pizza, while Movie Gallery locations will offer free gallery rentals for donations.
Employees of each business will also be baking goodies for customers to purchase, with all proceeds going to the shelter.
“Both staffs will be baking for this event and we are hoping it is a huge success,” said Caribou Movie Gallery Assistant Manager Melanie Legassie
“Last year we were able to collect a pickup load of canned goods and give the shelter a check for $530. We would like to at least match that,” said Legassie.
For more information or to make donations visit any of the four locations, or call the Caribou Movie Gallery at 498-8299, the Presque Isle Movie Gallery at 768-5530, Presque Isle Pizza Hut at 762-8651 or the Caribou Pizza Hut at 498-8523.
