Mapleton baseball wrap-up

    MAPLETON — The Little League season in Mapleton got under way June 12, and defending champion Doyen Farms is off to a 3-0 start.

    Doyen’s defeated Tenney’s, 9-6, in both team’s season opener June 13, then followed with a 5-0 win over Buck Construction June 17 and a 9-0 triumph over Buck Farms June 19.
    Buck Construction, Tenney’s and Buck Farms are all at 1-2.
    Summaries of various games played so far are as follows:

Buck Farms 4, Buck Construction 0

    Dakota Morrow tossed a complete-game two-hitter and struck out 15 batters along the way to lead Buck Farms to the shutout victory.
    Morrow and Ricky Goupille had back-to-back doubles and were both knocked on Chase Guerrette’s single to key a fourth-inning rally.
    Andrew Hewitt and Cole Paterson had hits for Buck Construction. Thomas Patenaude, Hewitt and Ian Michaud combined on the pitching duties.

Doyen Farms 5, Buck Construction 0

    Jaren Winger threw a no-hitter as Doyen’s downed Buck Construction.
    Thomas Patenaude and Ian Michaud were the Buck Construction pitchers. Teammate Tyler Farnham put the ball in play in both of his at bats for the second consecutive game.

Tenney’s 9, Buck Farms 6

    Riley Roderick was the winning pitcher as Tenney’s gained the victory.
    Colby Buckley doubled and tripled, while Roderick, Chance Bragan, Gavin Akeley and Mark Graves all added hits for the winners.
    Carter Rice doubled and tripled, Will Bridges and Morrow both doubled and singled and Goupille had a pair of singles for Buck Farms. Tyson Nason made a nice catch in the outfield.

Doyen Farms 9, Buck Farms 0

    Jaren Winger homered as Doyen Farms won again by scoring most of its runs late in the contest.
    Morrow tripled and Goupille singled for Buck Farms. Morrow struck out 13 batters in his pitching perfomance.

Buck Construction 10, Tenney’s 0

    Thomas Patenaude singled twice, Andrew Hewitt doubled in a pair of runs, Brian Ellis ripped a run-scoring double and Ian Michaud and Cole Paterson combined for the shutout on the mound as Buck Construction picked up its first victory of the campaign.
    Michaud caught a hard-hit line drive and Jacob Sjoberg made the putout on a pop out in the final inning as the defense came through for the winners.
    Josh Nadeau and Riley Roderick were the only Tenney’s players to reach base, with Roderick collecting the lone hit on an infield single in the second inning.
    Buck Construction was scheduled to play Buck Farms Monday, while Tenney’s and Doyen’s squared off Tuesday.
    The schedule for June 26-July 2 is as follows:
    June 26: Doyen’s vs. Buck Construction; June 27: Buck Farms vs. Tenney’s; June 28 (Mapleton Daze): Tenney’s vs. Buck Construction, 4 p.m.; Doyen’s vs. Buck Farms, 6 p.m.; July 1: Tenney’s vs. Buck Construction; July 2: Buck Farms vs. Doyen’s. All games are held at the Little League field behind Mapleton Elementary School at 6 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
