garner awards at state level
On May 9, the Presque Isle High School Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter traveled to Orono to participate in the annual State FFA Convention. The group was surprised to be greeted by the National FFA President Clay Sapp.

Presque Isle chapter members placed in the following: agricultural mechanics, third place team, Houston Putnam, Tony Robbins and Tristan Woodworth; welding, sixth place individual, Tristan Woodworth; dairy cattle evaluation, sixth place individual, Justin Buck; environment and natural resources, second place team, Carolynn Brundage, Houston Putnam and Tristan Woodworth.

At the convention banquet, the FFA group was honored to be joined by Maine Education Commissioner Steven Bowen and Maine Department of Agriculture and Conservation Commissioner Walter Whitcomb.
After the banquet, the chapter got to enjoy the new recreation center at University of Maine. In addition to participating in competitions, chapter members got the opportunity to tour the UMaine campus, experience the Student Union food court and visit the Cole Land Transportation museum.
