WASHBURN – Maxine L. Harris, 85, passed away Thursday night, June 6, 2013, at Maine Veterans Home in Caribou after a short illness. She was born on July 20, 1927, in Washburn, the daughter of Edgar Farley Sr. and Dilla (Carter) Farley. She worked as an inspector at Viner Bros. a shoe manufacturer in Presque Isle for many years. Maxine enjoyed doing crafts, was well liked by everyone, and was a member of the Salmon Brook Historical Society in Washburn.
She is survived by a son, Dennis Harris; and a daughter, Sharon Nightingale, both of Washburn; three grandchildren, Rick Nightingale, Dollie Haines and Jeri Nightingale; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Maxine was predeceased by her husband, Ray Harris; and her brother, Edgar Farley Jr.
Friends called 6-8 p.m., Sunday, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Funeral services were held 9 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2013, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 67 Paris Snow Dr., Caribou. Interment was at Riverside Ext. Cemetery, Washburn.
