BROWN, Harold Roy, 90, WESTBROOK, June 6, 2013. Arrangements by Dolby & Dorr Funeral Chapel, Gorham.

 WESTBROOK – Harold Roy Brown, 90, of Longfellow Street, died Thursday, June 6, 2013, following a brief stay at Springbrook Nursing Home in Westbrook. He was born on January 1, 1923, in Presque Isle, the son of Roy M. and Faye Briggs Brown. He was a 1940 graduate of Presque Isle High School. American Flag Color
    He worked both in agriculture on the family farm, as well as a machinist at Pratt & Whitney in Connecticut prior to joining the Army Air Corp on December 27, 1941. Harold served as a B-24 waist gunner in the European theater during WWII. His crew flew 3 missions on D -Day. He worked as an electrician, motor repairman, and as a draftsman for Maine Public Service retiring from that position in 1985.
    Harold volunteered for Meals on Wheel and was active in the Cressey Road United Methodist Church. He served on many church committees and single handedly revarnished the church pews when the church was at its School Street location. He also took great pride in his residential property creating a walk around flower garden admired by passersby. He was a remarkable artist working with oil, watercolors and India ink.    Harold and his wife, Cora enjoyed traveling both in the United States and abroad, sharing numbers of these trips with their grandchildren, to the delight of each.
    Harold was predeceased by his beloved wife of 68 years on February 17, 2012. In addition to his wife, Harold was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Ralph Brown of Windham; and his son-in-law, Robert Woyshner of Indialantic, FL.
    Harold is survived by his daughters, Vicki Frost and her husband, Carl of Gorham, and Susan Woyshner of Indialantic, FL; grandchildren, Alexis Hourigan and her husband, Bruce of New Gloucester, Samuel Perkins and his wife, Crystal of Stuart, VA, and Jessica Frost of Beverly, MA; great-grandchildren, Makayla and Xavier Hourigan, Tobias, Quentin and Camryn Perkins. Additionally, he is survived by his two sisters, Evelyn Holder and Beverly Nelder both of Presque Isle; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
    The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful women of Tootsie’s Girls (Chrissy, Jackie, Willie and Cathy) for their exceptional care of and compassion for Harold since the death of his wife, always remembering those lunch dates at Wendy’s. The family also wishes to thank the outstanding staff at Springbrook Nursing Home for their caring administrations to Harold during his brief stay.
    A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 11, at 11 a.m. at the Cressey Road United Methodist Church, 81 Cressey Rd., Gorham. Arrangements by Dolby & Dorr Funeral Chapel, Gorham.
