SAD 1 adult ed holds graduation
PRESQUE ISLE — Approximately 100 people attended the May 16 SAD 1 Adult Education commencement exercises, held at the Presque Isle High School Auditorium.

ADULT ED GRADUATES — SAD 1 Adult Education commencement exercises were held Thursday, May 16. Students participating were, in front from left, Audrey Carlton, Judy Hull, Michelle Adams, Erin Burby, Christina Warner and Nicole Cote. Twenty nine students received their diplomas. Class Marshal Nicole Cote led 15 participating graduates into the auditorium to receive their high school and GED diplomas, accompanied by pianist Eva Ireland.
Larry K. Fox, SAD 1 adult education director, welcomed those in attendance. William Egeler, dean of students at Northern Maine Community College, addressed the graduates.
Jessie White gave the invocation and Alexandra Dusza was class speaker.
Jordan Buckley sang the national anthem and “You’re Gonna Miss This,” by Trace Adkins. Garrett Kidney assisted with the lights and sound system.
An outstanding student award was presented to Judy Hull and a student recognition award to Scott Wheeler. Jim Bubar of the Presque Isle Rotary Club awarded a $500 scholarship to Cote.
Gerald Saccucci received the teacher of the year award. Wilma Winslow was awarded a 40-year service pin and Cathy Craig was awarded a 25-year service pin. Mary Jo Badger received a 10-year service pin, while Denise Carter, Ed Escobar and Saccucci received five-year service pins.
Gehrig Johnson, superintendent of schools, and Fox presented the graduates with diplomas. Lucy Richard, chairperson of the SAD 1 school board, presented the charge to the graduating class.
