Football meeting is scheduled tonight
The Aroostook Huskies Football Club will hold its first official meeting of the 2013 season on Wednesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. in Folsom 105 on the UMPI campus in Presque Isle.
The first part of the meeting will primarily be a recruiting meeting for players in the SAD 1 district who will be entering grades 7-12 this fall, and their parents.
A booster group for the program is being organized and will also be a topic of discussion.

Volleyball camp slated July 22-26
The University of Maine at Presque Isle volleyball program will hold a summer skills camp the week of July 22-26. The camp is open for girls entering sixth through 12th grades and takes place in Wieden Hall on the UMPI campus.
Owl head volleyball coach Mark Kornachuk will direct the camp. Kornachuk is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and has 25 years of volleyball experience. While in Arizona, California, Tennessee and Maine, Kornachuk has coached different ages and teams. The UMPI volleyball team would like to bring our volleyball training to the community for those wanting to play hard, enjoy the game and excel in a sport that is growing in Maine.
The clinic will be held daily from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. and the cost is $50, which includes a camp T-shirt. Team discounts are available. For more information, contact Kornachuk at Mark.kornachuk@gmail.com or 999-9836.
Flag football tourney is June 23 in Caribou
The Aroostook Huskies Football Club is holding a co-ed flag football tournament Sunday, June 23 from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. at Sincock Field in Caribou.
The registration fee for the double-elimination tourney is $150 per team, which may consist of a roster of up to 12 players. Four males and four females must be on the field at all times.
Every player will receive a commemorative T-shirt and the winning team will receive a trophy.
The first eight teams to register will be accepted. USA Football flag football rules will apply. Concessions will be available at the field.
All proceeds will benefit the Huskies’ football program.

Hooked on Fishing Not Drugs set for June 1 at Mantle Lake
The annual Hooked On Fishing Not Drugs fishing derby will be held free of charge for youth under age 16 at Mantle Lake Park in Presque Isle Saturday, June 1. Registration is from 8-10 a.m.
Prizes will be awarded to the first 250 to register. First prize is a lifetime fishing license, donated by the Presque Isle Fish and Game Club.
Free hot dogs, potato chips, soda and ice cream will be available on site. The fishing derby is sponsored by the Presque Isle Elks.
Fundraiser to benefit Aroostook Huskies
On Saturday, May 25, Wieden Auditorium on the University of Maine at Presque Isle campus is hosting a talent show fundraiser for the Aroostook Huskies Football Club.
The event will be held at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10 each.
A performance by the reigning Miss Maine, Molly Bouchard, will highlight the show. Also performing will be Dan Rooney, Northern Star finalists Heather Rose and Megan Ouellette, Miss Presque Isle 2012 Hannah Patterson, Robert Helstrom and Jonathan Guimond.
Tickets are available at TD Bank in Presque Isle and at the door.
Proceeds will be used to secure playing fields, officials, safety equipment, medical response at games, and transportation for the Huskies.
