Easton’s Hafford honored
for athletic achievements

Jared Hafford was awarded many awards at the Easton Athletic Awards Banquet last week.
Jared Hafford is a great athlete and puts his all into every game he plays. Jared was awarded the WAGM Athlete of the Week award in soccer. He also was named a “Bangor Daily News” All-Star Tournament Team Honorable Mention. Jared was chosen for the All-Aroostook Class D Boys’ Basketball Team. Radio station 102-FM selected Jared as Star of the Game against Mars Hill. He was chosen to be an All-Aroostook County All-Star Classic, as well as an Aroostook League Scholar Athlete. Congratulations on a job well done in both soccer and your basketball season.
Halvorson honored
Carla Halvorson was honored with many awards last week in Easton. She is an outstanding athlete and a wonderful young lady. Carla was named for All-Aroostook Class D Girls’ Soccer Team, All-East Soccer Team, as well as All-State Soccer Team. She scored 96 goals in her high school soccer career. Wow! What a great job she did.We are very proud of her accomplishments.
Carla was chosen as All-Aroostook Class D Girls’ Basketball Team. McDonald’s chose Carla to be on the McDonald’s Academic All-State Basketball Team, which is quite an honor. She is the only person to be selected for this in Easton. Congratulations, Carla.
She was the state winner of the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. This young lady was also chosen as an Aroostook League Scholar Athlete. She also won the Butch Shaw Sportsman Award. Carla was chosen for the 2013 Aroostook County All-Star Classic Team, as well as the 2013 Aroostook League Division Volleyball Tournament.
I would say that we have not seen or heard the end of this young lady’s sports career. Thanks for all your hard work, Carla.
More sports awards
Chosen for the All-Aroostook Class D Boys’ Soccer Team were Cody Halvorson and Hunter Turner.
All-Aroostook Class D Girls’ Soccer Team members selected were Kylee Carter and Kennedy Young. Chosen for the All-East Soccer Team along with Carla Halvorson were Kennedy Young, Kylee Carter and Hunter Turner.
Hunter was also chosen to be on the All-Aroostook Boys’ Basketball Team. Hunter was chosen Maine Principals’ Association “Player of the Week” against Jonesport Beals. Hunter Turner got a Bangor Daily News All-Tournament Team Honorable Mention.
He twice received Player of the Week for WAGM against Washburn and Wisdom, where he dunked the ball beautifully. Also Hunter was selected for the 2013 Aroostook League Division 11 Volleyball Tournament.
We are proud of all of our athletes for doing such a wonderful job.
Babineau accepted
Ariana Danielle Babineau, of Easton, has accepted membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. NSCS is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is the nation’s only interdisciplinary honors organization for first-year and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade-point average and class standing.
NSCS has nearly one million lifetime members and 300 chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
School fundraiser
On Tuesday, April 30, Amato’s Restaurant in Presque Isle will donate 10 percent of the day’s sales to help the Easton School Department purchase new cafeteria tables. Come out and support the school and have a delicious meal.
Sympathy
Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family of Edith Fuller who passed away last week. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
