PRESQUE ISLE American Flag ColorLinwood W. “Duke” Elliott Jr., 68, passed away early Thursday morning, April 18, 2013, at the Aroostook Medical Center in Presque Isle. He was born in Bangor on December 7, 1944, the son of Linwood W. Sr. and Phyllis (Salley) Elliott.
    “Duke” served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He trained and raced horses in his early years, and then worked many years for New England Telephone Co. as an equipment installer. He was a proud member of the Union IBEW, and a member of the Presque Isle Elks Club.
    He is survived by his wife, Arlene (Guerrette) Elliott of Presque Isle; a daughter, Lynnette Elliott of Orlando, FL; a son, Troy Cunningham of DeLeon Springs, FL; a granddaughter, Josslyn Elliott; two sisters, Salley Rayes of Lisbon, and Terri Donovan and her husband, Bill of Gilmanton NH; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
    A note of thanks to his friends, family and union brothers for all their support during his illness, with a special thanks to Richard Kidney of Presque Isle.
    He was predeceased by his parents and his step-father, Ralph Denafio.
    Family and friends called 2-4 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. Reception immediately followed at the Presque Isle Elks Club. A graveside service was held 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2013,  at Corinthian Cemetery, East Corinth.
