Trinity Lodge team grabs bowling title

    PRESQUE ISLE — The 91st annual Eastern Maine Bowling Tournament was held at Northern Lanes Bowling Alley April 3-6 and local teams dominated the event.

    CHAMPIONS — Members of the victorious Trinity Lodge team of Presque Isle at the 91st annual Eastern Maine Bowling Tournament, held at Northern Lanes April 3-6, include, in front from left, Matt Simonds, Bud Porter and Mike Patenaude.     The round-robin tournament featured teams from Presque Isle, Houlton, Woodland and Calais, and the final standings had Trinity Lodge of Presque Isle on top with a 31-5 record, followed by Presque Isle Elks I at 25-22 and Presque Isle Elks II at 23-13.
    It was the first time in the history of the event that Presque Isle teams swept the top three positions.
    The rest of the standings were: Houlton Elks 1 (22-14), Houlton Odd Fellows (21-15), Calais I (20-16), Woodland I (19-17), Calais II  (10.5-25.5), Houlton Elks II (8.5-27.5) and Woodland II (0-36).
    The all-star team, made up of the six bowlers with the top averages, included Terry Grant  of Trinity Lodge, 121.7; Larry Good of Presque Isle Elks I, 114.7; Michael Lee of Presque Isle Elks I, 114.56; Tom Pelkey of Trinity Lodge, 113.81; Larry Pulcifur of Presque Isle Elks I, 113.56; and Chris Stewart of Houlton Elks I, 113.52.
    High string went to Josh Thornton of Woodland I with a 169. Jack Nicholas of Calais I was next with a 156 and Tyler Perry of Houlton Elks I was third at 155.
    Grant had the high three with a 409, followed by Lee with a 406 and Paul Austin of Houlton Odd Fellows with a 401.
    Team high single went to Presque Isle Elks 1 with a 640. The high three also went to Presque Isle Elks I with a 1,792.
