Sandra Mae (Devine) Hedrich
HEDRICH, Sandra Mae (Devine), 79, PRESQUE ISLE, April 11, 2013. A memorial service will take place Wednesday, April 17, at 2 p.m. at the Presque Isle Congregational Church. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
PRESQUE ISLE – Sandra Mae (Devine) Hedrich, 79, passed peacefully with her family at her side on April 11, 2013. Sandra was born on March 6, 1934, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Helen (Devine) Flannery and Fred Flannery. She spent her childhood at her grandparents’ farm in Fort Fairfield. She graduated from Presque Isle High School and Bryant & Stratton Business School in Boston.
Sandra served her community for three consecutive terms on the MSAD#I School Board, serving as vice chairman in 1981. She was past chairman and served four years on its finance committee. She was a member and past president of the Gould Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, member and officer of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and member of the Eastern Star. Sandra was also a Justice of the Peace and enjoyed officiating marriages.
Sandra loved tending her beautiful flower gardens. She was a wonderful cook and hostess. Sandra had many happy memories of the summers spent with her family on Portage Lake. She also enjoyed trout fishing, a sport she shared with her grandchildren. Sandra was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, friend and neighbor. She will be sadly missed by many.
Sandra was married to Uriah J. (Joe) Hedrich II for 24 years.
She is survived by her former husband, Joe Hedrich II of Fort Myers, FL; their four sons: Uriah J. (Joe) Hedrich III of Presque Isle, Gregory Hedrich and his fiancé, Jan Lovett of Presque Isle, Todd Hedrich and his wife, Jennifer of Presque Isle, David Hedrich and his wife, Nancy of Mapleton. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Uriah J. IV, Jordan, Taylor, Matthew and Madison; one great-grandchild, Jace; and several nieces and nephews.
Sandra was predeceased by her brother, Paul Devine; and grandson, Daniel Hedrich.
Friends may call at the Presque Isle Congregational Church on Church Street at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013, where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the wonderful healthcare providers and staff that helped in Sandy’s care this past year.
