CROUSEVILLE — A local woman involved in a standoff with police on April 2 remained hospitalized Tuesday, with charges pending her release.

“A warrant has been issued for her arrest, once she’s out of the hospital,” said Washburn Police Chief Roy Guidry Jr., noting he could not give her name until she’s been arrested.
The standoff was the result of a domestic incident between the woman and her boyfriend at 24 Flewelling Drive, not far from the town’s post office. The boyfriend reportedly went to a neighbor’s home around 1:30 a.m. indicating he’d been assaulted and asking for help. The police were contacted and responded. The victim, who is not being identified, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Upon arrival, it was determined the alleged assailant had weapons, including a gun, which resulted in the responding officer seeking backup from the Maine State Police, due to the potential danger to neighboring homes.
Law enforcement officials, including the MSP Tactical Team, spent about 10 hours negotiating with the women, who subsequently surrendered around 10:30 a.m. Due to self-inflicted injuries, she was transported by Crown Ambulance to The Aroostook Medical Center, then later transported to a Bangor hospital for further treatment.
“She’ll be charged once she’s released from medical care,” said Guidry.
