The Mars Hill, Blaine and Westfield senior citizens meeting scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, at 11:30 a.m. at the Mars Hill Snowmobile Club has been postponed due to this week’s snow storm.
The event, which would have discussed the topic “Nutrition and Healthy Cooking for Seniors” presented by ACAP Representative Amy Bouchard, will be rescheduled. No date has been set.
For more information on the seniors’ club, call Sue McPherson, program coordinator, at 540-1509.
United Methodist Women
The Mars Hill Methodist Women met on Monday, March 4. Those attending were: Donna Brewer, Diane Ketchum, Joan Boone, Joan Walsh and Elaine Bailey. A lunch was enjoyed, followed by a delicious dessert provided by Joan Boone. The meeting was called to order by President Donna Brewer where all joined in praying the Prayer of Invocation, followed by the Purpose of United Methodist Women.
The guest speaker was Jean Wiggins, senior Medicare patrol, from the Aroostook Agency on Aging, who gave a most informative talk on Medicare fraud and various scamming techniques that are often perpetrated against the elderly.
The secretary’s report was read by Elaine Bailey, as our secretary, Clara Hussey, was not in attendance. It was approved as read. Diane Ketchum gave the treasurer’s report, which was approved as presented.
After discussion, it was decided to continue with the Hope & Justice Project as an ongoing mission. By unanimous decision, it was decided to order 20 small-print and 10 large-print copies of the “Upper Room.”
The meeting adjourned with all saying the Benediction.
