GRAY, Joan Mary, 81, EASTON, at Mars Hill, February 22, 2013. Interment will take place in the Spring at Estes Park Cemetery in Easton. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

        EASTON – Joan Mary Gray, 81, transitioned from earth to heaven Friday, February 22, 2013, at the Aroostook Health Center Nursing Home in Mars Hill. Joan was born April 17, 1931, in Portland, ME, the daughter of Archie and Winnifred (Fytch) Wilson.
    Joan was a very caring person who had a love for nature, birds, the ocean, walks, reading, poetry and flowers, especially her lupins, roses, and bleeding hearts. Joan also possessed an appreciation for humor and enjoyed laughing with others. She was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed holidays spent with family and was proud of her children and grandchildren.
    Joan was a member of the Easton Pentecostal Church where she taught Sunday school, directed Christmas plays, and served others for many years. Numerous lives have been impacted by her kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion. She will be greatly missed.
    Joan is survived by her husband of 62 years, Hughie A. Gray of Easton; two sons, Alan and his wife, Joanne of Charleston, ME, and Chris and his wife, Cindy of Sayre, PA; two daughters, Colleen Tracz of Kissimmee, FL, and Tammy Wright of Presque Isle, ME. Joan also leaves behind 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Paulson of Altamonte Springs, FL.
    Joan was predeceased by her sisters, Alma Claus and Fae Schmidt; her sons-in-law, Joe Tracz and David Wright.
    Friends and family gathered to remember and celebrate Joan’s life at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle, Tuesday, Feb. 26, from noon until 1 p.m. A memorial service immediately followed at 1 p.m. with Rev. Merritt Durost of Easton Pentecostal Church officiating. Interment will take place in the spring at Estes Park Cemetery in Easton.
    The family would like to express its sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the Aroostook Health Center Nursing Home in Mars Hill for the tremendous care and encouragement given to Joan during her last few years.
