TAMC nurses deserve full support
To the editor:
Shame on Eastern Maine Medical Center (EMMC), the parent company of TAMC, shame on the TAMC board of directors, shame on TAMC administration for not listening to the nurses request for sufficient staff for safe staffing!
The most recent nursing study of hospital practice and psychology promotes sharing of responsibilities, expectation of higher levels of achievement, and gives employees (nurses) the power to achieve goals, i.e., sufficient, safe staffing. Most nurses understand their jobs well, and are therefore ideally positioned to help make decisions and solve problems.
Stop worshipping at the altar of the computer and encourage your staff. Nurses care! Hurray to the nurses for keeping the Florence Nightingale oath, “I will be loyal and devoted towards the welfare of those committed to my care.”
