DOW, Margaret “Betty” McLaughlin, 86, MAPLETON, at Mars Hill, February 6, 2013. Interment will be held in the Spring at Southside Cemetery. Arrangements in care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
MAPLETON – Margaret “Betty” McLaughlin Dow, 86, went home to be with her Lord Jesus on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill, where she had been a resident for four years.
Betty was born in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Charles T. and Hazel O. (Beckwith) McLaughlin. She was married to her husband John “Ralph” Dow of Mapleton for 55 years before he passed away in 2004.
Betty was a member of the United Baptist Church in Mapleton for over 50 years and served the Lord there in many capacities. She was a tireless worker, also working as a cook at the Christian camp Baptist Park for many years. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Marjorie Ann Dyer of Mapleton, and her three grandsons, Harley R. Dyer and his wife, Barbara of Beech Island, SC, Todd K. Dyer and his wife, Christina of Grovetown, GA, and Andrew J. Dyer of Mapleton. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Harley’s children, Harley M., Sonserae, Dakota and James, and Todd and Christina’s children, Levi and Joy. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Friends and family called on Sunday, February 10, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. at the Mapleton Baptist Church where a funeral service was held at 4 p.m., the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Phelps officiating.
