A STRONG GUST OF WIND was being blamed for flipping this truck and trailer on its side at the Valero gas station/convenience store on the Station Road in Easton the afternoon of Jan. 31.

Deputy Vance Palmer of the ACSO responded to investigate and also found a roof blown off a nearby garage and the canopy over the gas pumps heavily damaged by the wind. Unseasonably warm temperatures, that neared the mid-50s, also brought rain and caused considerable snow melt, resulting in a number of roadways being flooded as runoff from fields washed across roads. Palmer indicated a section State Road in Mapleton was partially submerged, as was a spot on the Egypt Road near the Henderson Road intersection. Some of the most severe flooding occurred on the Castle Hill Road in Castle Hill. Local and state road crews spent most of their day addressing problem areas.
