100 POINTS — Adam Flynn scored the 100th point of his Presque Isle Wildcat hockey career during Friday’s win over Old Town. He was honored Saturday prior to the team’s home game against Hampden.     Despite missing half of last year with an injury, Flynn became the eighth player in the 21-year history of PIHS hockey to rack up triple digits in points. The others are current assistant coach Darren Carlisle, Doug Carlisle, Brandon Daigle, Brennan Shaw, Dylan Collins, Isaac LaJoie and Connor Shaw.

“Adam has been blessed to play with some very gifted players, including three prior 100-point clubbers,” said his father and coach, Carl Flynn. “I think he has learned from them the art of scoring and in his younger years, his job was to feed them the puck and let them score, for which he collected the assists that helped get him to this plateau.”

Carl Flynn added that Darren Carlisle, the Wildcats’ all-time leading scorer, has also made a huge impact through his coaching.

In addition to the individual achievement, Presque Isle was able to climb over the .500 mark following the win over OT and another one at home Saturday against Hampden Academy. PI, which was in sixth place in Eastern Maine Class B at presstime with its 7-6 record, had a pair of players notch their first career goals Friday in the rout of the Coyotes.

Scott Rhynold and Jeremy Gingrich were among the Wildcat players to score in the contest. Flynn added a goal in addition to his five assists, while Andrew Michaud, Alex Michaud and Daniel Boucher had two goals apiece. PI took a whopping 51 shots during the match. The ’Cats led 5-0 after one period and 11-1 after two.

Colin McKay, Joe Patenaude, Ryder Soucy, Cooper Madore and Tyler Seeley were the team’s other goal scorers. Jillian Flynn and Oliver Gerrish combined for the goalie duties and had 13 saves on the evening.

On Saturday, the Wildcats earned a tough 3-2 victory at home over Hampden, with Seeley scoring the tie-breaking goal with just 3:48 remaining in regulation. Alex Michaud and McKay had assists on the game-winning goal.

McKay and Flynn scored second-period goals for PI. Rhynold and Seeley collected the assists. Jillian Flynn saved 19 of 21 shots in goal for the winners.
