MAPLETON — A Mapleton woman was charged with operating under the influence following an accident Jan. 17 on the State Road.
“Trooper Rob Flynn covered a single-vehicle crash on Route 227/State Road in Mapleton on Thursday, Jan. 17, involving an SUV that struck a utility pole,” said Sgt. Josh Haines, Maine State Police.
The accident took place around 4:35 p.m. and involved Marie Dionne, 37, of Mapleton, and two passengers.
“Dionne was driving her 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac westbound on the State Road when she lost control on the icy roads. The vehicle spun out of control and struck the snowbank, rolling over. The rear driver’s side struck a pole, crushing the left door and roof,” said Haines.
Dionne suffered minor injuries which did not require immediate medical attention. Dionne’s two passengers were not injured.
While investigating the accident, Flynn determined Dionne was driving impaired.
“Dionne was charged with operating under the influence,” said Haines.
