Locals turn in top times at Bigrock
MARS HILL — Bigrock Mountain hosted slalom ski races for high school teams Jan. 12, with morning and afternoon races held for both girls and boys.
In the girls’ morning race, Alexia Pelletier of Fort Kent won in 1:49.03 for her two runs.
She was approximately 7.5 seconds faster than runner-up Emma Bartlett of Presque Isle (1:57.54).
Samantha Kearney of Central Aroostook was fourth in 2:03.76 and Paige Garrison, also of CA, was eighth in 2:09.9.
In the afternoon, Fort Kent’s Rudy Martin prevailed with a time of 1:48.6. Bartlett was third in 1:52.88 and Kearney took eighth in 2:02.48.
The boys’ morning race went to Andrew Paradis of Fort Kent, whose time was 1:42.33.
Bryce Smith of PI was third in 1:45.53. Zack Grass of Central Aroostook was one slot back in 1:47.31. Gabe Player of the Wildcats took 10th in 1:54.86.
In the afternoon, Brandon Ouellette of Fort Kent won in 1:40.6. Grass and Cody Clayton of CA were third and fourth, respectively in 1:45.42 and 1:47.19, while Player was seventh in 1:48.04.
Races were also held Saturday at Fort Kent’s Lonesome Pine Trails, but results were not available at presstime.
Bigrock will be the site of the next alpine races, to be held Saturday beginning at 9 a.m.
