PRESQUE ISLE – It was another tough year of judging at the Wintergreen Arts Center, but winners have been selected in the annual gingerbread house-building competition.
“We had a great turnout again this year, with a lot of talented children and parents taking part in the festivities,” said Director Wendy Gilman-Zubrick.
Gingerbread awards from the Community Gingerbread Challenge include:
• Best in Show, Martha Lapointe, Gingerbread Potato House;
• Most Heart, Joshua Harvell, age 3, with “Ice Cream Shoppe”;
• Most Delicious, Jazmyn Brown, age 6, marking the second year with the honor of this title;
• Most Inviting, Jayden Harvell, age 5, with Grammy Robin Norsworthy;
• Most Creative, Hilda Walton, “The Snowy Hideaway”;
• Most Original, Heather Harvell, “Christmas in the Bahamas: A Tuna Hut”;
• Ensemble Award, Mars Hill Rec After-School Art Program, with “It Takes a Village.”
“Thank you so much, everyone! We have thoroughly enjoyed hosting your beautiful creations,” said Gilman-Zubrick. “The love they are made with is a big part of what makes Wintergreen feel magical during the holiday season!”
