SAMMONS, James C., 61, BENTON, ME, December, 2012. Interment will be at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Veilleux Funeral Home, Waterville, ME.
BENTON, ME – James C. Sammons passed away at his residence in Benton, this week. He was born in Grand Junction, Colo., on September 21, 1951, the son of Phyllis and Finis “Sam” Sammons.
Jim graduated from the Presque Isle High School in 1969 and attended the Thayer Medical School of Technology where he worked until he was called to duty and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1972. After the Navy, Jim worked in blood research at hospitals in Boston then returned to Maine to care for his mother. Jim became very proficient in computer installation and troubleshooting and was self-employed in that profession.
Jim was an excellent bass guitarist and played at many performances throughout Maine from Portland to Millinocket. He also enjoyed his Harley-Davidson and travelled with his “AH Gang” members to many UBM events and gatherings. “Feared throughout the Land.” Jim was truly an individual with high standards expected of his family, friends and collaborators.
Jim will be missed and is survived by his beloved daughter, Brandi; his very much loved nephew, Phillip; his brothers, Dennis, Mitch and Tom; as well as many special members of the family: Michelline, Bonnie, Chris, Melanie, and their sons and daughters.
A family gathering took place in Waterville on Saturday, December 15, 2012, and internment will be at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery.
