Free skating at the Forum

    The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department will not be maintaining an outdoor skating rink this winter but instead will be providing free skating at the Forum in Presque Isle for all Fort Fairfield residents through Feb. 24, 2013 (the end of February school vacation).

    In order to gain access to the Forum for free skating, each Fort Fairfield resident must present at the Forum ticket window a picture identification that includes a proof of residency. Skaters are responsible to provide their own skates (skates are available to borrow from the parks and recreation department for the season).  For more information, please call 472-3882.

Skating or swimming field trip

    The parks and recreation department is sponsoring a field trip on Thursday, Dec. 27 to Presque Isle whereby participants can either go swimming at the indoor pool or skating at the Forum from 1-3 p.m. The bus will depart from the community center at 12:30 p.m. and return at approximately 3:30 p.m.

    Participants must be at least nine years of age or be accompanied by a responsible chaperone in order to attend.  The cost is $3 to swim or free to skate ($1 skate rental if needed). Registration forms are available at school or the community center. 

Roller skating field trip

    The parks and recreation department is sponsoring a field trip to the Melody Roller Rink in Caribou on Friday, Dec. 28 from 1-3 p.m. The bus will depart from the community center at 12:30 p.m. and return to the community center at approximately 3:30 p.m. Participants must be at least nine years of age to attend or be accompanied by a responsible chaperone. The cost is $5. Registration forms are available at school or the community center.

G-Force Laser Tag

    Laser tag will be held at the Fort Fairfield Community Center on Saturday, Jan. 12 from 4-8 p.m. (4-6 p.m. for boys and girls in grades 2-8 and 6-8 p.m. for grades 6 and up).  The cost is $3 per game or $10 for a two-hour session. For those who have never played laser tag, bring your friends and come experience the excitement and thrills of this action-packed game.

Introduction to basketball

    The Fort Fairfield Parks and Recreation Department is offering an introduction to basketball program on Saturdays from 1-2 p.m. for boys and girls in kindergarten and grade one at the community center. The program will continue through Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013. The intent of this program is to teach the very basic fundamentals and skills of the game of basketball to the participants in a fun-filled manner.  The program is free of charge and registration forms are available at the community center or at school.

Community center hours

    The Fort Fairfield Community Center gymnasium and game room is open for the season.

    The hours that the game room will be open to the public are Monday through Friday from 2:45-5 p.m. The gym and game room will be open Friday and Saturday evenings from 6-8:30 p.m., Saturday from 2-4 p.m. and Sunday from noon-4 p.m.. These are regular hours of open play and subject to change as needed for other scheduled programs and activities when they occur.

    During school vacations, the facility will be open noon-4 p.m. daily except on Christmas. There is no charge to participate in open gym activities.

Co-ed volleyball

    Co-ed volleyball for individuals high school age and over is held at the Fort Fairfield Community Center gymnasium every Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. Play is informal with teams being selected each night from all those in attendance. There is no charge to participate and all are welcome to attend.
