MAPLETON – Terry J. LaPointe, 66, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 15, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born on March 26, 1946, in Presque Isle, the son of James E. “Jack” and Muriel A. (Oakes) LaPointe.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era. Terry worked as a head mechanic at Converse Shoe Co. for many years in Presque Isle. He was a member of the DAV Chapter Bernard L. Coro #22, VFW, and Vietnam Veterans of America. He loved music and enjoyed playing his guitar. Terry was a kind man, very compassionate, always willing to help others.
He is survived by his mother, Muriel LaPointe of Fort Fairfield; two sons, Toby LaPointe and his wife, Christine of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, Travis LaPointe of Mapleton; his best friend and caregiver, Sue McMann of Mapleton; two brothers, Hollis LaPointe of Bennington, VT; and Tylor LaPointe of Presque Isle; three sisters, Carla Hays, Heidi James, and Narda Guiou, all of Fort Fairfield; five grandchildren: CJ, Tylor, Lindsie, Abbie and Samantha; one great-grandson, Matthew.
He was predeceased by his father, James E. “Jack” LaPointe.
Friends called from noon until 1 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, at the Celebration Center Route 1A, Fort Fairfield, where funeral services were held at 1 p.m., with Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Online condolences may be expressed at www.duncan-graves.com
