PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Athletes from Presque Isle High School were honored Nov. 5 during the school’s fall sports swards ceremony, which recognized all of the Wildcat athletes who participated in fall sports.
The following is a recap of the awards presented.
Junior varsity boys soccer — Coach Nate Hasty presented certificates to: freshmen Sam Gray, Parker Lambert, Brycen Libby, Cooper Madore, Michael Mahon, Connor Murchison, Zachary Rice, Kyle Rider, Bryce Smith, Cole Staples and Byron Winslow; sophomores Austin Albert, David Cyr, John Freeman, Jeremy Gingrich, Taylor Miller and managers Alexis Bell and Morgan Wilcox; and juniors Josh Jones and Christian Lunn.
Varsity golf — Coach Carl Flynn and assistant coach Daren Hunter presented certificates to freshman Gannon Therrien and juniors Nick Crouse, Carter LaPointe, Michael Michaud and Bradley Shields. Receiving first-year letters were juniors Karson Eaton, Josh Gordon and Liam Hughes. Receiving second-year letters were sophomore Jenna Hallett and junior Michael Boone. Receiving a third-year letter was senior Gabe Player and receiving a fourth-year letter was senior Adam Flynn. The golf team was recognized for taking second place in the Penobscot Valley Conference Class B championship, with Hallett winning the girls’ PVC individual title.
Varsity boys cross country — Coach Marie Beckum presented certificates to freshman Reece McDougall; sophomores Matt Burtt, James Churchill, Brandon Mancos and Cristian Nunez; and junior manager Alex Hemphill. A second-year letter went to sophomore Noah Rossignol and juniors Dustin Drabek and Frank Nunez. Third-year letters were presented to juniors Trevor Levesque, Saul Nunez and Matt Tilley.
Varsity girls cross country — Coach Lori Googins presented a certificate to freshmen Leslie Mejia. First-year letters were presented to freshmen Emily Colligan, Erica Corey, Mandy Graham and Matteah Michaud and senior Kayla Girardin. Receiving second-year letters were juniors Lauren Schiff and Shannon Sweeney. Junior Bonnie Corey and senior Amanda Bennett received third-year letters and senior Samantha Simonds received a fourth-year letter.
Varsity girls soccer — Coach Ralph Michaud and assistant coach Dillon Kingsbury presented certificates to freshman Jillian Flynn and juniors Logan Caron and Kaleigh Kinney. First-year letters went to freshmen Olivia Hudson and Taylor Williams, sophomore Macy Desmond, junior Carly Bell and seniors Kali Warner and manager Kate McKenna. Second-year letters were presented to sophomores Hannah Graham, Krystal Kingsbury, Emma Kinney and Jordi Legassie; juniors Danielle Allen and Shea Brown; and senior Liza Buck. Third-year letters went to seniors Emma Bartlett, Abbie Carrir, Katelyn McPherson and Meredith Stewart. Receiving fourth-year letter were seniors Karlee Bernier, Chandler Guerrette and Megan Ireland. Guerrette was recognized for establishing the career record for assists with 35 and Stewart for establishing the goalie shutout mark for a career with 29.
Varsity boys soccer — Coach Joe Greaves and assistant coach Tim McCue presented a certificate to sophomore manager Aubrie Gross. Receiving first-year letters were sophomores Keeghan Lowe, Alex Michaud and Chase Norton; juniors Aaron Kofstad, Cody Lyford, Ansumana Morrow and Ryder Soucy; and seniors Thomas Freeman and Josh Morrow. Earning second-year letters were sophomores Colin McKay and Ben Nickerson, junior Tyler Seeley and seniors Dakota Fox, Brandon LeBlanc and Khyver Lowe. Receiving third-year letters were seniors Michael Guerrette, Jonah Stephenson and Jacob Williams.
Special awards were also presented. Receiving sweatshirts, awarded to those accumulating a combination of six varsity letters during a career, were Buck (soccer, basketball and softball), Seeley (soccer, hockey and baseball), Simonds (cross country and track and field) and Williams (soccer and track and field).
Jackets are awarded to those lettering in a sport all four years. Recipients were Flynn (golf), Bennett (cross country), Bernier (soccer), Guerrette (soccer) and Ireland (soccer).
