MAKE-A-WISH FOUNDATION’S Portland office will receive $210.50 raised Oct. 23 by Linda Sheldon, of Creative Designs in Caribou, some of her friends and staff at Amato’s on Main Street in Presque Isle. Sheldon said she got the idea through her granddaughter who works at the eatery. Each Tuesday, Amato’s, owned by Micah Desmond, gives a different non-profit agency the opportunity to earn 10 percent of the day’s proceeds for their respective agency or organization. The group raised $53 in tips, with Desmond presenting Sheldon a check for $157.50, which represents a percentage of the day’s sales. Sheldon and five of her friends also took part in the Sept. 20 Make-A-Wish Walk, held at UMPI, raising $738 for the organization during that event.
